From the program’s name itself, “Grow Fit” is designed to help your child develop, flourish, and grow into competent, healthy, and fit individuals.
At Southside Child Development Center, we endeavor to instill healthy eating habits and the importance of exercise in your child. During these formative years in their growth, we teach them about lifelong healthy habits. We also strive to educate them on how they can live a healthier, fuller life.
Our Grow Fit focuses on the following areas:
- The Importance of Physical Activity. Safe and active play times are important to develop a child’s physical skills and needs. Physical activity is encouraged for at least 1-2 hours per day.
- Healthy Eating Habits. We focus on dealing with the importance of eating fruits and vegetables. Also, children are taught about foods that they need to avoid or minimize (e.g. junk foods, too much fried and processed foods, etc.).
- The Importance of Drinking Water and other Liquids. Apart from water, children are encouraged to drink milk and juices (as much as possible, avoid sugar-sweetened drinks).
- Balanced Screen/Technology Times. Technological gadgets are everywhere today, and they are used virtually by every person. However, it is important to limit your child’s access to TV, computer, cell phones, and other gadgets.
